Job Description

As a Senior Data Engineer / Architect at GROW, you will own the development and continuous improvement of our data platform capabilities including data architecture, data pipelines, data lake & warehouse, lakehouse ingestion and integration with reporting & operational systems. As a Senior member of the team, you will help lead initiatives and coach/mentor other team members.

• Data Engineering

• Lead building and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical models of data architecture throughout the data life cycle covering transaction and analytical models
• Participate in Scrum and understand what a good data engineering process is and seek to improve the status quo. Understand the flow of work into production.
• Lead in the continuous improvement of the delivery process (CI/CD). Contribute to smooth deployments with minimal disruption.
• Contribute to uplifting Infrastructure as Code practices aligning with other technology teams

• Technical Skills:

• Proficient in data modelling - both transaction and analytical, and competent in data management. Experience handling non-relational data is nice to have.
• Strong data warehouse development - SQL, Python, Spark, DBT, Databricks. Any experience in test automation using DBT is nice to have.
• Experience provisioning infrastructure as code. Experience with Terraform is nice to have.
• AWS experience is advantageous but strong experience with other clouds - Azure and GCP will be considered.

• Design/Architecture:

• Lead building and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical models of data architecture throughout the data life cycle - both transaction and analytical
• Collaborate with value streams in discovery and design discussions, and ensure model changes are optimal
• Communicate upcoming model changes to downstream teams such as Data Transitions, Data Platform and Reporting
• Contribute to uplifting data management practices and capabilities in data quality, metadata management and data explainability
• Defines and ensures adoption of best practices in data engineering at all levels of the process. Leads conversations around data engineering best practices and seeks opportunities to implement them in collaboration with the broader GROW developer community.
• Mentors adherence to design patterns within the codebase to improve code quality. Participates in code review sessions.
• Shapes the design and maintenance of the interface boundaries of our data stack whilst considering best practices.
