Position Summary

Drawing on a background in a civil, structural, chemical/plant engineering, drafting or related construction engineering the role will lead and play an active role in a data analyst team. The team will be analysing large volumes of visual data from offshore infrastructure to identify and label mechanical, structural and hydraulic features in this data for the purposes of condition assessment and asset integrity management. Also undertake condition assessment of various inshore and offshore structures using visual and other data, based on established client or industry codes/frameworks.

The role is critical in the distribution of work within the team and refinement of workflow processes, as necessary. The lead may also be involved in the design of new work processes under the direction of the AIT Operations Manager. In managing the team, the position will liaise closely with an overseas engineering team. The Lead Engineer will also be responsible for the grooming and development of their team members on both professional and technical fronts.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of engineering projects or elements of projects as assigned by the senior management.
  • Translates project work by planning and allocating tasks to individual members of the team.
  • Manages a team of engineers to achieve project objectives within the allocated time frame.
  • Tracks and maintains individual performance within the team in line with benchmarks.
  • Implements existing workflows for various projects. Adjusts existing workflows and processes as required by project requirements and/or to refine business processes.
  • Designs and implements new workflows in conjunction with AIT Operations Manager.
  • Developing the professional and technical skills of team members and helping develop their leadership potential.
  • Ensures a high standard of quality is maintained in all work produced by the team.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting to the senior management as required. Supports project manager information requirements for planning and project tracking.

Person specification

  • High attention to detail
  • Experience in managing teams of 8-12 people on distributed work
  • Experience in the professional and technical development of team members.
  • Experience in grievance management and delivering feedback to their team members.
  • Experience in managing the preparation of engineering (consultancy) reports and other technical reports.
  • Experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Experience managing a team undertaking engineer analysis (for internal or consultancy purposes)
  • Experience working in the O&G industry (preferably with offshore infrastructure)
  • Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings and schematics
  • Experience in the use of CAD models of oil & gas platforms, structures and/or engineering components
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated ability to quickly pick up the use of new software
  • Familiarity with interpreting P&ID and/or plant process diagrams
  • Familiarity with the use of Autodesk Navisworks and/or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with the use of Autodesk Recap and working with point cloud data
  • Experience with project management tools i.e Clickup, Asana, Jira, Trello, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and G-Suite.
  • Experience with Data Analytics and Visualization tools.
  • Exposure to Linux operating system
  • Experience in manual data labelling
  • Experience in working with or as part of remote teams

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s level qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, Materials, Industrial, Petroleum or Civil engineering.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in or having completed a Master’s degree will be preferred.
  • 5+ years of industrial experience in a relevant industry and engineering role. Candidates with 3+ years of experience can also be considered based on display of exemplary leadership and management skills.
