About Airwallex

Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 676,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own.

We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,300 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. About the role

We are looking for a Financial Operations Manager based in Singapore to lead global cash and transaction reconciliation. In this role, you will own end-to-end break investigation and resolution, drive cross-functional issue follow-ups through to closure, and partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and Finance to strengthen reconciliation controls and improve automation. You will also lead and develop a team, setting clear operating rhythms and performance standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily, weekly, and month-end reconciliations for cash and transaction flows across channels, entities, and regions, with clear coverage, SLAs, escalation paths, and closing calendars.

  • Manage reconciliation breaks end-to-end, including triage, investigation, root-cause analysis, documentation, and follow-up with Product, Engineering, Data, Ops, and PSP/Bank partners until full resolution.

  • Understand end-to-end fund flows and transaction lifecycles to identify control gaps and risks, and design policies, procedures, and governance that ensure fund safety and strong financial controls.

  • Drive continuous improvement of reconciliation systems, tools, and workflows, including automation, data quality checks, dashboards, and other scalable enhancements.

  • Translate operational needs into clear requirements/PRDs and partner with Product and Engineering to deliver and measure enhancements (e.g. break volume reduction, faster cycle times, improved accuracy).

  • Partner with Product, Ledger/Accounting, and regional stakeholders to align reconciliation with product changes and reporting needs, and to standardise practices while respecting local requirements.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the reconciliation team, allocating resources across BAU and project work, and maintaining capacity planning, coverage, and training.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Operations, reconciliation, financial operations, payments operations, or related roles; experience in payments/fintech is strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record leading cash, settlement, and transaction reconciliations at scale, and driving issues to closure with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payment flows (authorisation, capture, settlement, refunds, disputes/chargebacks) and how these map to ledger entries.

  • Experience improving processes and systems (automation, workflow tooling, data pipelines, controls), with the ability to write clear requirements and influence prioritisation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to deep-dive into large datasets and identify patterns and root causes.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable escalating and driving accountability.

  • People leadership experience (direct management or strong team lead experience).

  • Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with SQL/BI tools is a plus.
