About the Team
Canva would not exist without content. Our templates, photos, fonts, stock media and more play a critical and pivotal role in empowering our users to design anything and publish anywhere. Content has far reaching business impact and is a key driver of user acquisition, retention and revenue
The Content Creative team’s mission is to build the most valuable content library in the world to inspire our users to create their next design. We work collaboratively across the Content & Discovery group, and other groups to identify & implement opportunities to drive user engagement through content. This group will be focused on developing the world’s most inspiring and valuable library of photos, videos, animations, illustrations, graphics, fonts, and more. Working to ensure that our content is Truly Local, the Content Creative sub-group has a global remit to create and acquire the most relevant, high quality content from around the world.
About the Role
The role of Senior Creative is to provide advanced craft-related knowledge and enhance user experience for their area of strategic focus. This role is responsible for supporting their Creative Lead in the advocacy and implementation of creative strategy in their area of focus within their strategic vertical, guiding our Product, Craft, Studio, and Partnerships teams with creative insights, strategic briefs, and best practice for your area of expertise.
What You'll Do:
- Support the Curation team projects through hands on design tasks
- Support you Creative Lead (Curation) through design executions of creative strategy on the Canva Marketplace.
- Templates design
- Marketplace banners design
- Content auditing and curation for specific projects, Content Drops and CCS Profile Page features.
- Support you Creative Lead (Curation) through design executions of creative strategy on the Canva Marketplace.
- Foster collaboration and alignment
- Build a collaborative working relationship between Product, Marketing and Engineering teams related to your area of strategic expertise.
- Collaboration on cycle planning & research
- Understands how team goals align to Canva's strategy and mission in line with C&D Content strategy and company goals and priorities in partnership with your Creative Lead.
- Leverage user research and insights from CSI in creative execution for content specific to your area of focus.
- Collaborate with Creative Leads (Craft) across to build product and content insights into strategic plans for diverse topics/focused facets.
- Support your Creative Lead in collaboration with i18n Creative Leads (Craft) to build global insights into strategic plans.
- Identify content opportunities (through auditing and curation observations) to meet short-term goals
- Development of Campaign briefs for Strategic vertical
- Work closely with your Creative Lead to define and implement the Creative Vision for your strategic vertical.
- Prepare briefs for Craft Teams and Creators (on the content vision for your vertical, and guide them through to execution.
- Ownership of Campaign Reporting for Strategic vertical
- Support your Creative Lead on campaign analysis to understand successes and opportunities
- Participate in campaign retro with Craft Team to develop best practices and identify opportunities to integrate into future content development.
- Collaborate on long-term planning for Strategic vertical
- Collaborate with your Creative Lead on long-term goals for your vertical, aligned with Product, Marketing and Engineering goals (1-3 years)
- Advocacy of Strategic vertical at a group level
- Proactively share knowledge and insights on strategic area via Brownbags and accessible documentation.
- Represent VC in Show and Tells across your area of expertise
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience working as a Graphic Designer and/or Illustrator
- Strong creative, organisational, problem-solving and time-management skills
- Technical skills include:
- Understanding of graphic design principles and colour theory
- Possess strong conceptual skills, high-level sense of design, layout, and typography, and a
broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions - Hard digital graphic design skills, Expert knowledge in Adobe Creative suite and/or Procreate and/or Affinity, Figma is not essential but welcome.
- Brand design experience is not essential but is welcome
- Must be able to apply style guides creatively
- Designs for and adapts to the diversity of customer experiences and needs in line with team goals
- Prioritises problems where solutions will have the highest impact to Canva
- Consistently shares expertise with others, teaching skills and explaining concepts
- Applies advanced craft-related knowledge to make complex things simple and expand team capabilities and ability to achieve goals
