Job Description

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have a choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

About the role

Our People Technology Enablement team (PTE) act as the conduit between our broader People Group and our internal partners across IT, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Security to deliver on our People Technology goals. PTE partners with our People Systems team to centrally own and sequence our People tech roadmap, rallying everyone towards a big-picture, cross-team vision for our tech.

As an experienced Business Analyst, you’ll help us realise this vision by focusing on the processes, ways of working, technology and data that enable our People Group to deliver seamless experiences for Canvanauts across the globe. You’ll help Canva’s People team to scale in an efficient and insights-driven way through multiple system change projects, ensuring we are clear on the problems we need to solve and collaborating with partners across People, IT and the rest of Canva to build creative and impactful solutions.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Bringing clarity to chaos through translating assumptions and ambiguity into clear and defined functional and non-functional requirements and ensure anything we launch is a high-quality, reliable solution.

  • Being an integral part of project delivery from small and simple coordination efforts to complex change projects and systems implementations.

  • Understanding the core of problems by defining scope, requirements and solutions that will get to the root cause, not just the symptoms, by focusing on the process, partnering with stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges and translating these into clear problem statements and paths forward.

  • Understanding and documenting processes in order to identify opportunities for optimisation

  • Creating test plans and scenarios from the given requirements or projects.

  • Presenting analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders and sponsors and drive alignment on a path forward

  • Collaborating with your PTE team, our partners across IT, procurement and finance, and stakeholders across the People Group.

  • Managing complexity and ambiguity as we continue to mature and establish our ways of working.

  • Thinking strategically (beyond just the here and now), Canva is growing and we need you to help us navigate our way through different complexities and global, regional and/or country impacts as we continue to scale.

You're probably a match if you

  • Have proven experience Business Analyst experience working on complex HR projects in a role analysing and redesigning processes or delivering projects that improve how a team or business works.
  • Have a passion and understanding of the HR Technology landscape and experience implementing complex HR tools as part of a broader HR technology roadmap. Workday experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Have previous experience gathering requirements, documenting processes, creating test plans and an ability to translate business needs and opportunities technical requirements and team members.
  • Have excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to influence senior leaders within a highly matrixed organisation.
  • Are solutions-orientated and in the details, but focus on the horizon, flipping between big-picture thinking and what needs to be done now without jeopardizing the quality of either.

What's in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
