What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

The mission of the Operations Business Partner is to support Group leadership, coordinate special projects and drive them to unilateral success by coordinating and communicating between key project owners. Working with leadership, you will be the organiser and look after all things operations for the global group, which is this case is currently around 110 Canvanauts who sit across 7 different countries.

Using your experience with program/project management, business operations and stakeholder management you will work with cross-functional teams and working groups to help Canva to achieve the level of operational efficiency, cooperation & collaboration that our front-line teams need to hit our goals.

At the moment, this 12 month Fixed Term role is focused on:

  • Communicating optimally to support teams: Owning and facilitating all Group cadences and internal communications. You’ll drive tracking initiatives, run seasonal planning processes, assist with company-wide product development adherences and constantly iterate on this as Canva grows. You will also coordinate and facilitate meetings, defining objectives, purpose and agendas, and constantly looking for ways to improve the operational cadence of the Group.
  • Being the Glue of the Team: Organising and wrangling content for events including Show & Tells, Learning Forums, Engineering All Hands and CTVs, as well as helping us recognise the hard work of the Group, and pulling together amazing celebrations when we hit those Crazy Big Goals
  • Planning and coordinating all aspects of Global Leadership Offsites: Meticulously planning all details of this quarterly event, from the logistics of travel, room space, activities etc to creating an engaging agenda focusing on driving key deliverables that move the needle on our goal activities.
  • Delivering Quarterly Business Reviews; including close stakeholder engagement with key partners, support in drafting of content and sharing actions and feedback following each session
  • Proactively driving initiatives forward: Driving key company goals forward, which span across the operations group and looks to optimise operational efficiency and improve and establish our company goal process. This includes running the fortnightly meetings (incl. all preparation, pre-read material, agendas, and sharing of actions / outcomes post meeting) and then tracking those actions to completion, solving for any blockers along the way.
  • Creating an end to end communications framework for the key organisational units within the IT Group to share data, insights, and key information with targeted audiences across Canva Creating a framework for centralised knowledge and artefact management within the Group
  • Project managing IT integrations for our acquisition folk, ensuring acquisition of our technology ways of working is smooth and a positive experience, with particular focus on comms and change management
  • Delivering company wide events: You will own delivery of an annual 2 - 3 day conference with focus on internal team building, as well as showcasing opportunity for the rest of Canva. Sole owner of delivery of a company wide event requiring complex budget and travel planning, drafting of agendas and coordination of all presenters and content.
  • Supporting our Head of IT: This role involves managing the email inbox and calendar of the Head of IT. You will be the first point of contact for scheduling time in their diary, so it's essential to recognise when you need additional information or when to push back on requests.

You're probably a match if

  • You have proven experience in an Events, Program or Project Management role, or similar within the start/ scale up tech environment.
  • You have experience in Organisational Change Management & Communications
  • Experience prioritising, managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong desire to uphold high standards of excellence
  • Truly self-motivated with a desire to constantly learn, develop and grow
  • Integrity and trustworthiness with humility/willingness to question one’s own assumptions
  • Able to build relationships and rapport fast and constantly expand internal networks
  • Experience with business IT or technical teams is a plus
