What you’d be doing in this role

Reporting to the PH - Space Creation Lead, the successful applicant will play a crucial role in the Vibe - Space Creation team, supporting our employees to do the best work of their lives at Canva Philippines. As the Lead Safety Officer, they will not only ensure industry standard Occupational Safety and Health practices are in place but also provide a safe and supportive environment for all Canvanauts, particularly during emergencies and calamities. By overseeing the maintenance and repair of office facilities and equipment, and some construction works, this role directly contributes to creating a workspace where our employees can thrive and excel.

  • Occupational Safety and Health Compliance. Ensure the spaces Canva occupies comply with international and local OSH regulations. Ensure that any facilities and construction works are compliant and that any incidents or hazards are reported and resolved. Work alongside our People team and Global Safety Team to ensure the OSH policies and programs are regularly reviewed and implemented, not only in Manila , but also in campuses in other regions.
  • Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness. Along with the Global and Local Safety Team, Develop and implement Emergency and Disaster preparedness programs to mitigate the risk of property and life damage brought about by emergencies such as fire, earthquake, typhoon, and pandemic.
  • First Aid & Emergency Management Training. Monitor, manage and administrate the booking of company wide first aid and emergency management training sessions.
  • Own All Things Facilities. Make sure our buildings and Canva's services are working correctly. This includes setting up and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, service level agreements are set and adhered to, working closely with our contractors, tracking our assets, ensuring our schedule of audits are actioned and tickets are worked through and cleared by collaborating and contributing to the programs being developed and implemented by our Global Space Creation team. Environments within the building should be maintained at all times so our Canvanauts can enjoy a pleasant working space.
  • Furniture and Equipment Management, Procurement and Implementation. Track and oversee business objectives aligned to furniture management, procurement and implementation.
  • Construction Project Management. Administrate the construction of our office spaces and new projects. Work closely with the Facilities Lead and architect from initial concept through to delivering the final build and sign off. This will involve strong experience in documentation, supply coordination, compliance, regulation, work health and safety, communication with contractors, scope, timeline, forecasting projections and budgeting experience.
  • Storage management. Oversee administration and organization of storage management assets on a quarterly basis.
  • Innovation and Processes. Review and refresh operational processes within the facilities & construction team. Identify and support implementation of cost saves, innovation and best practice. Research new and innovative tools and products that will push Canva into a realm of its own.
  • Events support. Plan and execute our support for in-office or off-site events, which includes, but not limited to, logistics, shuttle and bus services, ingress and egress, electrical and water supply, and others.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of Safety Officer experience, with SO3 or higher certification
  • 5+ years of Facilities Management experience. Tech / BPO company experience is an advantage
  • Effective leadership abilities
  • Knowledgeable in processes and systems related to Hybrid Workplace
  • Delivers value to our Canvanauts and guests: Shows comprehension of customer experiences and requirements. Utilizes customer feedback and data to propose enhancements to systems, processes, or products. Actively explores avenues to deliver a top-notch customer experience.
  • Strategic thinker: The individual effectively plans workload, resolves competing priorities, and identifies opportunities to simplify work. They possess exceptional prioritization skills and can handle complex problems. Additionally, they take responsibility for their actions, show initiative in achieving goals, advance projects through challenges, and contribute to team goal-setting activities.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Pollution Control Officer certification is a plus
  • Construction project management (fit outs and refurbishments) experience is a plus.
  • Willing to work onsite and on a shifting schedule
