Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work – we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.
What you’d be doing in this role
The Checkout Platform team's goal is to make it super easy for any team at Canva to bring new monetisation ideas to life—fast. They are building a unified checkout experience that takes the heavy lifting out of launching new products, whether that’s credit packs, AI-powered features, or future offerings we haven’t even imagined yet. No more reinventing the wheel—their tools help teams get to market quicker, with a smooth, consistent experience for our users around the world.
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you a flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Designing and building scalable, reusable frontend components using JavaScript and React
- Creating seamless and consistent checkout experiences that enable new monetisation strategies
- Supporting a unified, out-of-the-box checkout platform that other Canva teams can easily integrate with
- Leading technical discussions, design reviews, and contributing to architectural decisions
- Continuously improving user experience and performance of the checkout flows
- Design, develop and deploy solutions via hands-on software development. Work closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwide
- Communicate effectively with Product Managers and Engineers across Canva when developing a solution; seek and incorporate diverse perspectives to address complex issues
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and effectively advocate for engineering needs to non-technical stakeholders within the group
- Model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutions
You’re probably a match if:
- Highly competent in frontend development, with deep knowledge of JavaScript and React.
- Strong knowledge of building reusable components and integrating with APIs.
- Able to work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements, iterate ideas and build custom solutions
- Capable of identifying solution options, weighing tradeoffs and proposing a scalable software architecture that solves a given business problem
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to different audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working as part of a highly cohesive and collaborative team with frequent interactions, regular pair programming and code review
About the team
The Revenue Platform group is deeply rooted within the Growth org at Canva, which is responsible for supercharging Canva’s product growth engine. We lead the strategy and roadmap to empower anyone, anywhere to experience the full value of Canva, be it through subscription management, flawless checkout journeys, or localised payment experiences.
The Monetization Enablement subgroup exists to bring new monetization strategies to market as fast as possible. Made up of four teams, the subgroup is responsible for how products are configured and sold, how users interact with and manage their billing experience, how they are incentivised to purchase, and how easily other product teams at Canva can go-to-market with their offerings.
More specifically, the Checkout Platform team plays a key role in supporting one of Canva’s top goals: to Scale Revenue Platform Services. Their mission is to make it easy for other teams across Canva to achieve their monetization goals without being blocked by the underlying infrastructure. We focus on building the foundational checkout experience that enables new products to be quickly and easily sold through Canva. We aim to provide out-of-the-box checkout capabilities that eliminate the need to build bespoke solutions for each new product, helping Canva scale its monetization efforts with speed and consistency.
