About DroneDeploy
DroneDeploy powers field teams with robotics and AI. As the only reality capture platform that combines robotic automation, AI agents, and a truly unified system, DroneDeploy allows critical industries to operate with speed and confidence.
From construction and energy to agriculture, the world’s largest companies use DroneDeploy to simplify field operations, improve safety, and make smarter decisions, faster. By combining aerial drones, 360 and fixed cameras, ground robots and proprietary AI, we’re bringing the power of automation and visual intelligence to all stakeholders, from the field to the boardroom.
At DroneDeploy, we thrive in a mostly remote-first culture rooted in innovation and impact. We’ve been recognized as a Best Place to Work in the SF Bay Area and named one of America’s Great Places to Work—but what truly sets us apart is the experience you gain: solving real-world challenges with cutting-edge technology, surrounded by teammates who are as passionate as they are supportive. Our team is bold, mission-driven, and building something that matters. We foster a culture where a variety of perspectives drive smart decisions, and where growth—both personal and professional—is part of the journey. Whether it’s flexible schedules, family-friendly benefits, or our strong track record of internal promotions, we invest in people as much as we do in product. If you’re looking to be part of something ambitious, authentic, and transformative, you’ll find your place at DroneDeploy.

Role Overview

Ready to revolutionize the sky? Join DroneDeploy's pioneering Aerial Capture team as a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer. This is your chance to architect and develop our cutting-edge aerial and robotics solutions. You won't just be building software - you'll create the future of fully autonomous drone operations, scaling them across thousands of global jobsites in the coming years and placing yourself at the very heart of aerial and robotics innovation.

Here’s how you will make an impact: Coordinate the technical vision and take full ownership of the architecture to implement secure, scalable, and high-performance systems utilizing modern technologies. As a hands-on technical leader, you will develop and test directly on autonomous drones and sensor payloads for field hardware integrations and data processing, while collaborating across teams and proactively leading technical design decisions to deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative systems, driving operational excellence.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced engineer to take ownership in the design and development of robust features and services in a remote-first, dynamic environment. You will work daily with cutting-edge drone and robotics technology, empowering users to capture and leverage aerial and ground data.

Work Environment

  • Remote work from home.

  • Available during core team overlap hours from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM PT. Meetings may occur between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM PT.

  • Occasional domestic travel for training, customer site/field visits, and company events.

  • AI tooling: AI tooling is a core part of how engineering work gets done at DroneDeploy. This role is expected to leverage AI tools to accelerate their own output and model effective AI usage for the team, including AI-assisted debugging, prototyping, and code exploration, all with strong attention to quality, correctness, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Vision: Drive the technical vision and architecture for Aerial Capture, driving clean code standards, setting technical direction, and making key architectural decisions.

  • Hands-on Delivery & Project Ownership: Serve as a primary code contributor, lead projects end-to-end, and proactively coordinate work to ensure predictable delivery, technical quality, and the quick unblocking of teammates.

  • Mentorship and Technical Bar: Raise the technical bar across the team by providing hands-on mentorship, pairing, and timely, direct technical feedback to foster engineer growth.

  • System Health & Quality: Take ownership of system health, including reliability and maintainability. Champion the reduction of technical debt and measure outcomes to drive value throughput.

  • Cross-functional Communication: Act as the technical voice for the team in cross-functional forums, communicating decisions, trade-offs, and project status clearly to Engineering Managers and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in full stack software development, with a proven track record of successfully delivering and supporting production-grade software.

  • Languages: Strong proficiency in TypeScript, with experience in Python. Experience in Java/Kotlin and Go is a plus.

  • Frontend Development: Solid experience with Angular (v20+) or similar modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).

  • Mobile App Development: Experience in Android app development is a plus.

  • APIs & Databases: Experience with RESTful and RPC API design, including authentication, versioning, and integration with external services. Experience with modern database setups, e.g. PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

  • Testing: Strong commitment to software quality, with experience in designing and implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing) using tools such as Jest or Pytest.

  • Architecture & System Health: Familiarity with microservices, modular architectures, and event-driven systems. Dedication to maintaining high software quality through consistent refactoring, performance optimization, and reduction of technical debt.
