This role

Our Partnerships and Payroll team are growing. We're looking for an amazing Senior Software Development Engineer (.Net) to join us as we scale our products and features and take on interesting technical challenges.

We are looking for a Senior .NET Engineer who loves building features and delivering real value to users. In this role, you will be the driving force in expanding and upgrading our core Payroll system.

We need someone who can deeply understand business requirements, translate them into clean, reliable code, and ship features quickly. You will also use modern AI tools as a powerful assistant to speed up feature development and automate repetitive coding tasks.

You'll be able to learn from our cross-functional teams, including working with geographically distributed teams. You'll accelerate your career quickly, as we scale our UK-based squad, working with smart people across the UK and APAC, in a fully remote, flexible and casual environment.

As our Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll look after:

• Feature Development: Take ownership of building new business features and improving current ones from database to APIs.
• Business Logic Implementation: Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured C# code to handle complex payroll rules and business workflows.
• Maintainable Design: Apply smart coding practices (SOLID, Design Patterns) so that the codebase remains clean and easy to add new features later without breaking old ones.
• AI-Accelerated Delivery: Wisely use AI tools to quickly draft code templates, build feature prototypes, and write unit tests, cutting down delivery time.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to understand user needs and propose the best technical solutions.
• Code Quality: Review team members' code to ensure bugs are caught early and features work as expected before deployment.

Who you are

To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way – operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring the following qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience developing web applications using C# and .NET Core.
• Strong experience in translating business requirements/user stories into solid technical features.
• Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and clean coding standards (so feature expansion doesn't turn into "spaghetti code").
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server and ORM frameworks, specifically NHibernate (or strong Hibernate background) and Entity Framework/Dapper.
• AI-Assisted Workflow: Familiar with using AI to speed up daily tasks (like generating boilerplate code or writing edge-case unit tests).
• Good communication skills to discuss feature requirements with the team.

Nice to have skills / experiences (not required, but advantageous):

• Experience in Knockout, VueJS, ReactJS (or similar JavaScript MVVM framework)
• Experience in AWS Cloud environments
• Experience in the Payroll domain
• Experience in building and / or leading a team of engineers
• Basic understanding of AI integration frameworks for future intelligent feature implementations within the Payroll system.
