This is a full time role with hybrid working, 3 days a week in our Sydney office (Surry Hills).

Everlab is an Australian healthtech startup building the platform to look after people’s health for their entire lives. It’s not just an app, it’s the infrastructure connecting every available healthcare service to give you comprehensive data on your health and provide personalised care.

We’ve had a 23x increase in revenue since June 2025 and recently announced our $65m Series A round, making this an exciting time to join Everlab as we expand globally.

This role is one of our first Engineering Management hires, with our Platform team owning the cloud infrastructure that our Product runs on and the developer experience that determines how fast and how safely every other squad ships.

Your customers are Everlab’s own engineers and there are 3 areas of focus; Infrastructure, Core Services and DevSecOps.

You will manage a team of 5 to begin with and we expect growth or splitting out of teams as we continue to scale.

What You Will Do

• Lead and grow the squad: own its delivery, its health, and its people. Performance, careers, hiring, and the hard conversations all sit with you.

• Own infrastructure and reliability: keep the platform dependable as the company grows into new markets, and make sure cost, observability, and on-call scale with it rather than becoming problems later.

• Own developer experience and tooling: find the friction in how engineers build, test, and ship, then remove it. Every hour you save a product squad compounds.

• Treat internal engineers as customers: measure developer experience rather than guess at it, and make the reliability versus velocity trade-off deliberately instead of by default.

• Set the squad’s direction with the Tech Lead: agree the goals and the rhythm, and keep the work connected to what the rest of engineering actually needs.

• Embed AI in how the team works: make effective AI tooling part of everyday practice, not a side experiment.
  

What We’re Looking For

• Management experience with a platform background: you have built or run a platform, devops, infrastructure, or developer experience team.

• Real infrastructure depth: a strong technical background with cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and reliability and observability practice. You can engage and lead your team’s technical decisions without being in the critical path on delivery

• Customer obsession for internal developers: you treat your own engineers as users, you measure the friction they hit, and you take removing it seriously.

• Sound judgement and people craft: you know when to trade velocity for reliability and when to do the reverse, and you have the management craft to grow a team through both.

• Seriousness about healthcare: you take the responsibility of building in a regulated environment seriously, particularly around privacy and patient safety.

• Startup/Scaleup experience: You've been in this phase before, you know what it's like and enjoy the variety, pace and opportunities that come with it.
