Finance and Operations Associate

Sydney | Hybrid | Full-time

We are looking for our first dedicated finance hire, a high-performer (likely from a Big 4 background) who is ready to trade in audits for ownership.

In this role, you won't just report the numbers; you’ll master them. You will own our unit economics, drive the strategy behind our spend, and ensure every dollar of burn is a calculated investment in our growth.

What You’ll Do

• COGS & Unit Economics: You will rigorously classify spend (COGS vs. OpEx) to ensure our Gross Margins are investor-ready. You’ll build the model that tracks exactly what it costs to service a customer, ensuring our unit economics stay healthy as we scale.

• Drive Forecasting & FP&A: You’ll build a dynamic financial model that ties department-spend to business drivers, owning the Budget vs. Actuals analysis to ensure the business is on-track

• Act as the Procurement Gatekeeper: You are the checkpoint for SaaS sprawl. You’ll identify shadow IT, consolidate duplicate tools, and enforce a disciplined procurement process.

• Manage the Financial Engine: Beyond the cloud, you own the classic finance stack: invoicing, R&D tax, treasury management, month-end close, payroll oversight, and board reporting. You ensure the company's financial health is always transparent and accurate.

• Operations Support: From time-to-time, you'll jump in and help the broader operations team as the business scales

You Might Be a Fit If You:

• Bring a Strong Financial Foundation: You have 3–5 years of experience in Big 4 accounting, transaction services, or a similar rigorous finance function. You understand the three statements implicitly, can model burn rate, runway, and the levers that drive gross margin, and know how to prepare financials for due diligence.

• Are "Commercial" First: You are comfortable getting on a call with a vendor to push for a discount or better payment terms.

• Have a value-first approach to modelling: You can build a financial model that serves a clear strategic purpose. You don't spend too much time sweating the details if you don't need to, instead focusing on getting to the answer.

• Are Tech-Curious: You don't need to know how to code, but you need to understand what "compute" and "storage" are so you can make intelligent decisions around tech-spend and investment.

• Possess a "startup mindset": You're prepared to roll up your sleeves and jump in where you're needed across the business.

• Are excited by AI: You are already tinkering with LLMs and thinking about how they can change the business landscape.
