The Role

We are looking for Senior Software Engineers who are great problem solvers, enjoy collaborating with others (not just engineers) that value well-written and tested code. As a Software Engineer at Linktree, you’ll be working together with various members and teams to achieve your goals. You’ll dive deep into how we currently work and help us optimize it as you grow into your role. We’re just getting started, so joining us now means a LOT of influence on the direction we’re going.

Want to know what a day could look like here? We hire with a people-first approach, so more importantly as a human, you will be collaborative, curious, enjoy solving complex problems and have empathy for the growing pains of a rapidly scaling startup. There are a lot of things we think are great about working at Linktree but we are biased, so here are the key takeaways that most engineers seemed to want to know:

As a member of the Commerce team, you will be working on a 0 to 1 social commerce product for Linktree. You'll be joining at an early stage of product development, where you get to own, shape, and ultimately build the product. We're a start-up within a start-up.

What You’ll Own

  • Build products that directly help Linkers earn a living.

  • Make technical decisions working backwards from a desired outcome and you take pride in building simple solutions to achieve that goal.

  • Work in cross-functional teams to build the services and infrastructure that power core commerce experiences (product management, transaction tracking, managing payments to creators, integrating with third party merchant stores).

  • Improve operational efficiency by shipping infra that optimizes performance, reliability and efficiency

Who We’re Looking For

  • Someone who both loves designing durable, extensible systems while also feeling comfortable building a first version quickly to validate then iterate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent and 5+ years of Software Engineering experience

  • Experience building modern backend services that power web and mobile front ends, and manage the cloud infrastructure that powers your services.

  • Experience with our core service stack (Typescript, Node.js and PostgreSQL, GraphQL). A plus is experience with the rest of our stack: AWS (S3, EventBridge, SQS, Lambdas, ECS, CDK), PHP, Snowflake for our data warehouse.

  • Experience with industry-wide payment facilitator services (Stripe, Paypal) and building systems for payment tracking is a plus.

Linktree is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $175,000-$200,000 in the San Francisco Bay or Los Angeles area. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate expertise, the scope of role and level, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

P.S. If you don’t tick every box in this ad, please don’t rule yourself out. We take pride in inclusion and hiring incredible human beings with great potential over ticking boxes – so if this role resonates with you, hit that apply button!

Where and How We Work

We are a global and diverse group offering a truly flexible and family friendly work environment. Kids, pets, and the occasional delivery person are all actively encouraged to appear on our Zoom screens. All of us at Linktree work either fully remote or a hybrid approach.

We currently have offices in Melbourne, LA and (soon to be) SF but our team is spread across Australia, United States, Europe and New Zealand. As our team approaches 200 people, our company will be 10x the size we were in 2020.

We offer autonomy and flexibility in how you structure your days and weeks. There will be the need for some collaboration outside of a "normal" 9-5 being a global company, but we aim to work asynchronously where possible.

How we’ll help you thrive

Our approach to benefits considers the whole person and the unique contributions they bring to Linktree. We want the experience at Linktree to be one that enables people to truly thrive so we can Go Further Together. Some ways we support you:

  • An annual wellbeing allowance ($7,000 AUD / $4,900 USD) to use on things like (but not limited to) fitness memberships, development courses, childcare, travel, charitable donations, pet insurance, home office set up - the choice is yours!

  • 100% coverage (and 80% for your dependents) of your monthly premiums for medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance.

  • 401K matching for you to save towards retirement.

  • Generous time off for vacation, holidays, parental leave, volunteer time and other categories.

  • Employee Stock Option Program - we want each and every employee to share in the company’s success as we go further together.

We believe in promoting a culture that celebrates unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences. We are creating an inclusive workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, and has equal opportunities to thrive.
