- Ensure security and data privacy are embedded into our systems architecture and development practices
Hands-On Execution
- Contribute to major technical components, algorithm design, post mortems etc, occasionally contribute code and review code
- Be involved in solution design for high-complexity or high-risk modules to maintain technical quality and help unblock teams.
- Lead or participate in technical deep-dives, code reviews, architecture reviews, especially for cross-team initiatives or for when the design has broad implications.
Team Building, Mentorship & Management
- Build, grow, and mentor engineering managers, leads, and senior engineers. Ensure strong leadership across your team.
- Recruit and retain top engineering talent, help define hiring strategy, technical interviewing, and onboarding.

- Lead adoption of AI-driven tools to drive productivity and ensure we’re on the forefront of modern engineering and product building workflows.
Delivery & Operations

- Set and monitor engineering KPIs and metrics (velocity, quality, uptime, etc.). Use data to drive improvements.
- Maintain reliability, monitoring, logging, incident management, and processes for disaster recovery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Support to balance technical debt vs feature delivery, prioritize properly.
- Represent engineering to the executive team, communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and timelines in terms non-tech stakeholders understand.
- Collaborate on budget, resource allocation, technology investment decisions.
- Evangelize engineering excellence both internally and externally through thought leadership, conference speaking, and showcasing our architectural decisions or technical wins.
Process, Governance & Scaling
- Establish best practices for coding, testing, deployment, security, and operations.
- Continuously evaluate and evolve the engineering org structure to match the company’s growth, ensuring clarity of ownership, effective cross-functional collaboration, and sustainable decision-making velocity.
What Success Looks Like
- The engineering org delivers on roadmap milestones with high quality and reliability.
- Systems are architecturally sound, maintainable, and scalable; technical debt is under control.
- Team attrition is healthy, engineers are growing in their roles; management pipeline is strong.
- Stakeholders (Product, Customers, Execs) trust engineering estimates, trade-offs, and delivery timelines.
- The engineering function is a key partner in business decision making, not just a delivery engine.
- You’ll work directly with the CEO, who is product-led and values engineering as a thought partner, not just a delivery function.
Who We're Looking For
- 12+ years in software engineering, with at least 5+ years leading engineering managers or directors in growing, fast-paced environments.
- Deep technical expertise: architecture, distributed systems, performance, security, infrastructure.
