The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Director to lead multiple product engineering teams responsible for building and evolving Linktree’s core user-facing experiences. This role is for a product-first engineering leader who cares deeply about craft, velocity, and customer impact — and who knows how to scale teams while continuing to ship high-quality product.
You’ll partner closely with Product and Design leadership to turn strategy into execution, guide technical direction across teams, and ensure we consistently deliver beautiful, performant, and reliable experiences to millions of users. This is not a platform or infrastructure-focused role — it’s about shipping product, growing leaders, and raising the bar for how we build.

What You’ll Do

  • Own engineering execution and outcomes across multiple product engineering teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and senior ICs, building a strong leadership bench and healthy team culture.
  • Set technical direction and standards for user-facing systems, balancing long-term quality with delivery speed.
  • Partner deeply with Product and Design to shape roadmaps, define scope, and translate product vision into shippable plans.
  • Drive delivery excellence, ensuring teams prioritize effectively and consistently deliver high-impact work.
  • Guide architectural decisions for front-end and full-stack systems with a pragmatic, product-minded approach.
  • Champion quality, performance, and reliability, including testing strategy, operational readiness, and on-call health.
  • Leverage AI to accelerate both delivery and product impact from developer tooling and workflows to AI-powered product experiences that drive user value.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and executives, surfacing progress, risks, and tradeoffs early and thoughtfully.
  • Navigate ambiguity and shape strategy in evolving product areas, defining the engineering approach where the playbook doesn't yet exist.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience leading multiple product engineering teams in a product-led, consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong technical foundation in modern web development and architecture (TypeScript, React, GraphQL, AWS).
  • Deep understanding of how to ship and scale user-facing products with a high bar for UX, performance, and polish.
  • Comfortable operating across levels — from org design and strategy to critical technical and delivery decisions.
  • Strong instinct for connecting engineering execution to business metrics — you think in terms of conversion, retention, and revenue impact, not just shipping features.
  • A collaborative, empathetic leader with strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Delivery-oriented with excellent instincts for prioritization, sequencing, and tradeoff management.
  • Thrives in ambiguous, high-opportunity spaces where the strategy is still being shaped.
  • Curious and AI-forward, actively using automation and LLM tools to boost team effectiveness.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building products for creators, small businesses, or independent sellers — particularly around helping them grow or monetize.
  • Exposure to commerce, subscription systems, or monetization surfaces.
  • Track record of scaling teams through periods of rapid product growth while maintaining quality.
Linktree is committed to providing a fair and competitive compensation package including cash, equity, and benefits. The base salary offered for this role is targeted at $300,000- $325,000 for roles based in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Final offers depend on multiple factors including location, experience, expertise, and role scope, and may vary from the range listed.
P.S. If you don’t tick every box in this listing, please don’t rule yourself out. We take pride in inclusion and hiring incredible human beings with great potential over ticking boxes – so if this role resonates with you, hit that apply button!
