Contract
The Role
We’re looking for a Social Video Editor to create platform-native videos at the speed of social. This is a high-output role for an editor with strong creative instincts, sharp storytelling judgment, and the ability to ship consistent volume across multiple channels.
You will create original, social-first videos from shoot through final delivery, owning the edit end-to-end, including versioning. You will also transform UGC and creator footage into polished, platform-native content, developing distinct variations for testing across channels. Every cut should feel intentional and tailored to where it will live, not like the same asset reposted everywhere. You will be accountable for editing quality, production speed, and asset readiness, using performance feedback to strengthen future work.
What You’ll Own
- Editing and post-production: Own the process end-to-end from conception to final delivery.
- Platform-native adaptation: Create distinct cuts for Reels, Shorts, YouTube, and other social surfaces, adapting based on channel distribution.
- Hooks and retention: Build strong openings, include retention drivers, and use visual and audio best practices to earn attention and maintain viewer interest.
- Story shaping: Create the clearest and most compelling social-first narratives.
- High-volume versioning: Produce multiple edits, aspect ratios, durations, hooks, endings, and creative variants efficiently so the Content team can test ideas and maintain a consistent publishing cadence.
- Motion and graphics: Create polished but lightweight motion treatments, titles, subtitles, screen recordings, and graphic systems that improve comprehension without slowing production.
- Creative quality: Ensure exports meet brand, platform, accessibility, and technical standards.
- Project and asset management: Manage feedback, file organization, version control, project files, source media, and final exports across a high-volume pipeline.
- Creative testing and partnership: Collaborate with channel managers to develop edit approaches, test variants, and turn performance findings into better future cuts.
What You’ll Bring
- 3-5 years editing social or digital video for a brand, agency, publisher, creator, production company, or your own audience.
- A portfolio of platform-native work across Reels, TikTok, Shorts, YouTube, or comparable formats that demonstrates storytelling, pacing, craft, range, and attention to detail.
- Expert-level proficiency in Premiere Pro or an equivalent professional editing tool, plus fluency in CapCut and working knowledge of After Effects or similar motion tools.
- A strong instinct for hooks, pacing, retention, comedic or emotional timing, music, sound design, and the small editorial choices that make content feel native.
- The ability to turn imperfect, mixed-quality, or loosely structured footage into clear, compelling stories without requiring heavy production support.
- Speed and systems thinking: you can manage a high-volume edit queue, build reusable templates, create versions efficiently, and hit deadlines without losing quality.
- Excellent project organization and communication, including proactive flagging of asset gaps.
- A test-and-learn mindset, with the ability to use audience behavior, performance data, new tools, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and creative outcomes.
