About me&u
It's our mission to bring people together by growing local food scenes. We’re the world’s leading personalised menu and ordering platform, trusted by 25 million foodies across 6,000+ locations.
When it comes to food experience, me&u helps you always feel like a local. The company's vision is to bring that feeling to everyone, anywhere - so no matter what neighbourhood you live in or visit, you'll always know the perfect place to go and exactly what to order.
Design at me&u
It goes without saying, but we’ll just say it anyway, things are changing – especially in product & tech orgs. The roles across product, design, & engineering are shifting, blending, & blurring. What it’s like at the moment of you reading this JD, vs the days you interview, vs the day you start, & six months from then will all look different. We’re embracing that, and we’re figuring it out as we go as we listen to the industry, our people, & our customers. Here’s what we do know, and what’s not changing…
Design at me&u is accountability for the human encounter with our product: every moment a venue operator or guest touches what we build. From the first fuzzy problem through to the shipped experience, our designers hold that thread. We don’t wait to be told the problem or the need, we move between shaping direction and making it real, & we use whatever tool we need. We own quality end-to-end within our teams, influence beyond it, and help other designers raise their game. We care about taste. We care about judgement. We want designers who obsess over what makes an interface feel right, zoom out to connect those details to real commercial outcomes, and use AI to move faster and go further than traditional design workflows allow.
So here’s what we expect from you, to join our team:
Own your work, end-to-end. From framing to a shipped, measured release: discovery, flows, every state, UI and copy, and the look back at whether it moved what you set out to move (conversion, AOV, upsell attach, etc). You do this alongside cross-functional partners both in and out of the product/tech org.
Stay close to customers. Get onto calls, go to venues, watch session replays, track support threads. You share these insights with your team, and use them to have a clear perspective and inform decisions. Even further, you turn what you hear into change fast: an operator's frustration can be a shipped fix the same week, not a backlog ticket.
Think in systems. Design the whole space, not one screen. You understand features and flows deeply, and how interactions ripple across surfaces. When agents and engineers can ship features fast, you’re what keeps it all coherent. You know when to reuse, extend, or challenge existing product patterns.
Hold the quality bar. Your taste, your intuition, your judgement, and your decisions are the difference between slop and a great product experience or a doc worth reading. You direct, evaluate, & hold your agents to this bar.
Work in the medium. Every designer here builds. We maintain our design system in Storybook, which is used in production. We expect you to take ideas to working UI and prototype in whatever gets there fastest: code, Claude, Figma, <upcoming shiny tool>. Where you sit on the build spectrum is yours to show us, but you're not handing off static Figma files.
Level up the team. You give thoughtful, specific feedback – and you seek it out too. You share what you learn and work in the open so that our craft, our AI practice, and our ways of working get better because you're here.
Curiosity. You ask questions, you explore, you try the latest tools. You give what you know, you learn from others, and you believe we can always do better.
Not a footnote
We have code constraints, time constraints, and millions of people using our products - which means what you create matters and what you ship has real consequences. From our AFR-profiled engineer who runs agents overnight to automated trackers, we're in the middle of figuring out what it means to be an AI-first product team in a real business, with real customers.
Our designers work across a range, from deep in the codebase with full agent orchestration to prototyping in code that engineers can utilise. The work each designer does looks different, & so do their workflows – the point is we are always trying to level up, to automate and delegate (to agents) what we can.
If you're the kind of designer with a proven track record of shipping work at scale, who thrives when the path isn't fully defined, who wants their work to matter commercially as well as experientially, and who's energised by the idea of building a new way of working rather than inheriting an old one… hit that apply button, we want to meet you.
PS: We work flexibly, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne where the product team gathers each week.
Why me&u
Work with impact and purpose. We’re helping the hospitality and entertainment industries to thrive and me&u is at the forefront of this. Expect collaboration and interesting problems to solve.
Work with great people. Work alongside a supportive, diverse and inclusive team. You’ll have the trust, freedom and support to experiment and not be afraid of failure but to learn from it...and have fun together along the way.
Work that challenges you. We’re growing quickly, and you will too. You’ll have numerous opportunities to embrace discomfort, grow and learn as me&u expands and scales globally.
Work that works for you. We’re a flexible, remote-friendly place with inclusive leave options and day-to-day work times to suit your routine. We prioritise our team’s mental health & overall wellbeing, with access to mental health days and support programs.
Diversity and Inclusion Commitment
We’re committed to growing and empowering an inclusive me&u community. That’s why we actively encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. If you require accessibility assistance at any stage of the process, please let us know.
