At Pet Circle, we want to create a world where pets and their families are healthy, happy and spend more time together - and we are looking for fantastic people to help us do that!
Over the past ten years, we’ve scaled to become one of Australia's Top 5 eCommerce companies and the No.1 player in the Online Pet industry. We will accelerate our growth as we continue on our mission to disrupt the way that pet parents discover & shop for the products they love.
The pet industry is booming (it’s a $15billion dollar industry!) and pets are holding bigger spaces in our hearts and homes than ever before. Online penetration of the pet industry is going to grow exponentially in the next 5 years. This is a unique opportunity in your career to be part of our exceptional growth story!
Founded and headquartered in Sydney, our team is now over 700 people strong and are based across Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
We’re looking for a talented Product Designer with strong visual and interaction design skills to join our Product and Technology team. This person will play a key role in helping define the user experience and design direction across a range of projects such as customer facing websites, mobile applications and internal operational products with the goal of improving our customer loyalty.
We are looking for someone who has exceptional attention to detail and a passion for creating functional, delightful, and beautiful user experiences. As a Product Designer at Pet Circle, you will work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting with engineers, product managers, and other designers to bring our evolving web, mobile and internal app experiences to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end to end design of aspects of our customer experience, focusing on our Android and iOS mobile app experiences from discovery to delivery.
  • Deeply understand the business context and our customers when thinking about and identifying opportunities for our products.
  • Lead user research and testing, to explore and validate ideas and then report synthesised findings back to internal stakeholders in a way that’s easy to understand.
  • Bring clarity to the customer problem by simplifying complex requirements through problem statements, user journeys and flows that can be presented back to the teams and stakeholders.
  • Lead and advocate the design thinking process by demonstrating and communicating its value within product and wider business teams so that it’s embedded in our ways of working.
  • Design using the existing component library and collaborate with other designers and engineers to scale it into a design system with accessibility in mind.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Brand teams to ensure alignment with visual elements and tone of voice while also championing best practice user experience principles.

Successful Attribute of this role include:

  • Ability to be flexible and at times work autonomously in a dynamic environment across multiple squads ranging from ecommerce to operations.
  • A style that actively challenges the status quo to deliver customer driven and measurable outcomes
  • Ability to build strong relationships with product managers and cross functional stakeholders to become a trusted advisor for all touch points relating to the user.
  • Ability to work closely with product managers and engineers to deliver the quality user validated interfaces that you designed.
  • Comfortable and eager to challenge and champion the customer and make UX best practice recommendations in discussions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and are able to zoom in and out of a problem space to understand the details of what you are working on but also how it fits into the whole.

About You:

  • 5+ years experience as a UX/UI designer or Product Designer
  • Experience working in a retail business or startup/growth environment
  • Proven record of delivering coherent and high-quality user experiences in native mobile platforms
  • Experience creating or contributing to Design Systems or pattern libraries. Front-end development knowledge would be a nice to have too!
  • Comfortable with using Figma, Miro and Adobe Suite
  • Confidence in scoping and conducting both quantitative and qualitative research necessary to understand/validate the customer problem or hypothesis at hand
  • Ability to take stakeholders through your design thinking process from problem framing through to high fidelity designs using various skills in your toolbox (customer journey, empathy map, user flows, wireframes, prototyping etc)
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to be proactive in collaborating and receiving feedback from product managers and engineers on your designs
  • Service design experience would be nice to have but not a must
