(We’ll tell you more about these as discussions progress)
Key aspects of this role
We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and scale our engineering function. You'll coach our tech leads, drive AI adoption, and raise the bar for how we build.
- Engineering leadership > lead and support Tech Leads and engineers to deliver high-quality software in a fast-moving B2B SaaS environment
- Coach technical leaders > mentor Tech Leads to strengthen their technical decision-making and leadership capability, keeping tight feedback loops
- Raise the engineering standard > you'll define and embed testing culture, quality standards, and best practices across the team, and own the outcomes: code quality, maintainability, and reliability in production.
- Drive AI tooling adoption across the engineering org > You'll own the strategy for how our squads integrate AI tools into daily workflows — from identifying the right tools to coaching tech leads on implementation and tracking progress.
- Cross-functional delivery > You'll work closely with Product and Design to keep the engineering organisation oriented around customer problems, not just technical ones.
- Scale the team with intention. You'll be involved in hiring, helping us attract strong engineers and building a talent pipeline for scale.
You’re ideal for the role if you have…
- Led an engineering team of 40+ people (essential) > You've been the EM (not just a senior tech lead) for a meaningful-sized team. You understand what it takes to lead through tech leads, not just alongside them.
- Thrive in a fast-moving tech startup > You know what it feels like to move quickly and build without a lot of process scaffolding. You understand how to plan for scaling fast whilst maintaining a thriving engineering culture.
- Strong personal conviction about AI in engineering > you use AI tools yourself. You have a point of view on how teams should adopt them. You'll write the playbook and iterate it as AI evolves.
- A genuine people-first orientation > you get energy from coaching people and watching them grow.
- A track record of building engineering culture > you've driven standards on testing & quality before and you know what good looks like in a team that ships confidently.
- Bonus: Background in construction > this isn’t necessary but it’s a huge bonus if you have prior domain knowledge of construction or construction-technology
