The role

As a Financial accountant, you will be a central member of the Financial Control team, reporting to the Finance Manager, while also assisting the Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver on the financial objectives of the Group.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our day-to-day operations, month end process, regulatory reporting and budgeting and forecasting.

What you will be doing

  • Support the Financial Control and FP&A Teams with diverse accounting, budgeting, forecasting, operational, and ad-hoc projects.
  • Manage cash transactions, oversee daily cash processing and ensure seamless bank reconciliations.
  • Lead key accounting processes, take charge of processing journals, loan book reconciliations, accrual reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Mentor accounts payable officer, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.
  • Assisting with Prospa’s trust accounting processes, including journal entries and month-end reconciliations.
  • Prepare annual financial statements, ensure full compliance with Australian and New Zealand accounting standards and other statutory requirements.
  • Facilitate external audits, act as a key contact during the Group’s external audit process, maintaining strong relationships with auditors and responding promptly to requests.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting the Group’s compliance requirements, including tax compliance, AFSL calculations, trust reporting, and APRA reporting.
  • Drive process improvement, contribute to continuous improvement in accounting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare management and board report by assist in the preparation of comprehensive Management and Board Reporting packs.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with 1-2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Great communicator and collaborator, across the business and with our external stakeholders
  • Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, Blackline and/or Anaplan is advantageous
  • Commercial experience in a Financial Services / FinTech setting highly regarded.
