Software Engineer

Sauce is looking for an incredible Software Engineer to scale our ‘operating system’ for Product Managers

Why do we do what we do?

Sauce is building the ‘operating system’ for Product Managers.
The PM is a high impact role in every software company, yet today, their lives are incredibly inefficient. They are relied on by customers, design, engineering, sales, marketing, finance and legal to solve their customers problems and achieve business outcomes. They often ship features and lack understanding of whether they actually solved the customers problem which is becoming even more critical as businesses look to increase the customer impact and efficiency of their teams.
To solve this, Sauce supercharges Product Managers (PMs) to close the loop on achieving product outcomes and align their stakeholders faster, in one single sauce of product truth.

Why are we the team to solve this problem?

In 2022 we raised our $2.3M seed round led by Blackbird Ventures with help from Airtree Ventures. Our team led product teams in startups and high-growth companies like Atlassian, SafetyCulture and Eucalyptus. We founded a company to create something better where our team can do their best work and make an impact on customers' lives each day.

Who are we looking for in a Software Engineer?

We launched our beta product in Nov 2022, were featured in the Australian Financial Review and are working closely with a group of customers to build and iterate a platform that customers love and rely on to do their best work everyday. Now we’re looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale our product from the ground up.
What will I be doing?
Building and iterating our product towards public release. You’ll be one of the key players when it comes to technical direction of the product, forging the landscape for future engineers.
Improving the usability and performance of the product by refining new or existing functionality, so that we can enable our customers to have an incredible experience each day.
Contributing to the foundation of our development processes.
Conceptualising and leading platform integrations with external products.
Be involved with shaping the product strategy and refining the way modern teams collaborate.
What experience do I need?
You’ll have deep knowledge of software engineering best practices and design patterns. You’ll have hands-on exposure to building the frontend and backend of web products with technology similar to React, Node, Typescript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL and AWS
You’re able to break down large technical tasks and clearly articulate what’s required to balance trade-offs of effort vs. impact
You’re passionate about shaping our engineering culture and mentoring other SWEs
This role includes a competitive salary, meaningful equity and the opportunity to be an early member of an organisation with tremendous potential in an untapped market.

What are our values?

Customer obsession. We’re passionate about helping our customers become radically better. Our customers give us energy to do what we do everyday.
Think 11x. We’re here to create something incredible and transform an industry. We think big and be bold in everything that we do.
Ownership. Our team are owners, we think long-term about the impact we can have on the world and take initiative when we see something that can be improved.
Grow together. We’re here to help each other become the best we can be, and we want to have fun doing it! This includes team events and Friday drinks.

Still need some convincing.. Hear what our world-class investors say?

Rick Baker, Partner at Blackbird Ventures: “Software is eating the world and building great software relies on great product managers. Having spent their careers searching for the very product they are building, the Sauce founders understand the pivotal role product managers play. Their experience gives them an unfair advantage to create a platform that supercharges teams in the same way Atlassian and Dovetail have done.”
James Cameron, Partner at Airtree Ventures: "Product managers are the lynchpin in any modern technology business, but ironically the products they use have not kept pace with software tools used in other parts of the organisation. There's a wide open space for a suite of PM tools that are collaborative, intuitive and focused on business outcomes, not just endless feature roadmaps - and this is what Sauce is building.”
