Description
Our client is looking for an experienced, passionate senior Backend engineer to be part of their ads platform engineering team. They work horizontally in support of all manufacturing solutions product teams to build new ad technology capabilities. Their work is heavily cross-functional, and their closest stakeholders sit in the Ad Operations, Data, and Strategy orgs.
You will be responsible for development and maintenance of tools, frontend services and APIs that power the ad operations within the company. In this role you will lead the design, implementation, deployment and operations of new or existing tools, services and APIs needed to support new product functionality. You’ll also be collaborating with other engineering teams within the company.
The ideal candidate will be able to quickly turn ideas from inception to final product in a fast-paced and friendly environment. You should be comfortable learning new technologies as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience, delivering products at web scale.
  • High degree of fluency in multiple backend programming languages. You are a strong coder and know how to write clean, effective code at scale. We primarily use Python and Go – but welcome experience in other modern languages such as Java, C#, Javascript, C++, etc.
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS technologies including S3, Lambda, StepFunctions, EventBridge, Redshift.
  • Experience in REST APIs, Airflow, and integrating systems using flat file unloads and APIs.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous and complex project requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator.
  • Experience with writing robust and maintainable unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals – you will work closely with other non-technical folks to get things done. Collaboration is key.
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes and systems. Adapting to the tools and technologies appropriate for the job at hand.

Nice to have

  • Experience in ad technologies, including programmatic monetisation, RTB, or header bidding.
  • High degree of fluency in JavaScript.
  • Experience with containers, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building gRPC APIs in Go Experience with continuous integration, automated testing, and deployment tools like CodeFresh (preferable), Circle, Drone, AppEngine, or similar.

  • Work with teams across the organization including product managers, designers, platform, devops, data, product and analytics to think beyond the technical implications of your design decisions.
  • Write clean, fast, compatible, easy-to-use, and testable code to turn ideas into production quality products.
  • Maintain an understanding of the business requirements and work closely with stakeholders to understand what they need and why.
  • Make smart engineering and product decisions based on data analysis and collaboration.
  • Mentor and be mentored by other engineers by leading and collaborating in all engineering discussions and evangelising engineering best practices.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence by meticulously testing and monitoring our systems and code, writing documentation, and being on-call to support the health of our services.
